I Fell In Love with a Librarian

Every time when I open that door ,
I always wish that you're the first person I see,
the more that I can't wait  to hear your Shh! Shh! Shh!

Those are the sweetest words that I can't wait to hear,
after I slept those subjects that I can't stand and fear.

I don't know but there's something different about her looks,
that made me pretend to read these Harry Potter books.
So I can stay longer...
long enough to see you more,
maybe someday you will realize,
I'm the one you're looking for.

I got very jealous  with that guy flirting you,
which makes me punch the person next to me.
And then you came to scold me!
because this nerd beside me shouted that I'm a bully.

Promise not bring me to the Discipline Office,
"Please I'm begging you not to do that,"

Because I was hoping our first date would be in a Mountain Park,
where we can sit down and talk a lot.

So I can get to know you even more!
A girl behind those glasses,
Would make me believe in Forevermore.

Suddenly that nerd push me hard and ran abort,
accidentally my body pushed you and we fell.
I caught your head with my arms and shoulders,
I was so afraid that you might get hurt.

I heard you whisper, "Thank you"

And then I said, "I love You".

Out of nowhere, my mouth uttered those three words.
I wish to say sorry,
But how can I hide this feeling anymore,
When this time you make me worry.

I want to check on you, be with you, and surrounded by you.

But yesterday you replied nothing and left,
My heart cried that day, you stole everything like a theft.

I never came back to see you until Graduation Day has come,

I was hoping to sneak on you for the last time.
So I open that door once again to check if you can still be mine.

I love what I saw,  everything has never change.
You're still that girl that catches everyone's attention.
It seems that time never came to age.

Luckily you came to my direction...
I have waited for this event to happen again...
So I can say sorry and apologize...
And ask you question that made me realize...

Excuse me! You're blocking the way, she said.
but I told her to use the other door...
Even though I wanted to tell everything,
The things that revolve in my head.

Who are you? She asked.

I whispered, (Well you and me are the main cast)

I wanted to return something I have just borrowed,
My most precious heart for you cupid has arrowed.

She excused herself,
but before she left,

I looked at her face closely,
I can't accept suddenly she became sad and lonely.
My heart melts to see her like that,
I wanted to kill the person that made you feel that way.
I thought who would not beg you to stay?

I looked back and saw her eyes locked at me,
Tears are falling and it feels very heavy

It's between I couldn't say anything or
I couldn't think of anything right,
so I ran after her so fast
and started to hug her so tight.

I told her that everything is going to be fine,
because I'm here to give you Sunshine!

I will try to make you happy everyday,
until I make sure you're feeling okay.

That moment was the most memorable,
because that very special moment with my dear,
She whispered those words I longed to hear❤

LIBRARIES CAN LITERALLY SAVE LIVES : LIBRARIAN TAKES ACTION

“I could see between the door and the floor. I could see if the bad guy – the shooter – walked past,” she said.

The Story:

Diana is a School Librarian which happened to be the Hero Librarian who saves the life of more than 50 students and teachers inside that library at that time. She yelled to them that  no one will risk to run along the hallway and everybody should stay inside.

She didn't panic, given the situation but according to her she was inspired and taught by her colleague who experiences the same situation.

She immediately turn-off the lights, shut windows and  locked them inside...

“I could see between the door and the floor. I could see if the bad guy – the shooter – walked past,” she said.

As they had recently undergone training and had been informed a simulated incident would take place.

“We did everything we were trained to do. And still this happened. And still 17 didn’t go home after school,” she said.

We're very sad to hear what happened and our deepest condolences to the Family of those 17 students from the tragic shooting incident at a High School in Florida.

Librarians Remain Among Most Trusted Professionals

In the increasing demand of librarians in the market, some of the professionals in the field can't cope up with stress and to the unhealthy environment which  made them decide to leave their jobs.

One of the factors that affects customer service is the impression of ...
"CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT"

What If librarians were too honest with their library users?

Here are some of the conversations that shows Librarians can be  actually bluntly honest to their clients :

Library User: I can't find the book on these shelves?

Librarian: The books are hard to find when you're not looking. I wanted to help you but there's a lot of lost books we have here and it might be the one you are looking for.

Library User: Excuse me, Why can't I eat inside the Library?

Librarian: Excuse me? Did you make time to read the library rules and regulations or maybe you are just stupid to think this is a cafeteria or a coffee shop?

Library User: Can you teach me how to access the Library Database?

Librarian: Library databases are for smart people, try to use Google, it will be more beneficial for you to use."

Library User: Where's the Reading Area?

Librarian: What's the use of the Library signages if you will keep asking me where the reading areas are?"

Library User: Here's my library fine payment.

Librarian: Thank you for paying your Library fines, It's your fault anyway for not returning the books on time."

Library User: Good day nice to see you!

Librarian: What the hell, here you are again, asking me to do something for you!

How I wish you didn't notice me today!

Library User: Is it too late to get some books?

Librarian: You can drop by tomorrow to check-out the books, I  already closed the computer after a system maintenance.

Good News : Increasing Demand for Librarians in the Philippines

Who said that Librarians do nothing?

According to the  Dept.of Education, Standard for Philippine Libraries, signed last April 2010 stated that for every 500 students enrolled an equivalent of 1 licensed Librarian and 1 library support staff should be managing the Library.

Well in that case, organizations who are not following this policy should be actually ashamed and members of Philippine Librarians Association Inc. should be making a stand to strictly follow this standard set by the Government.

It's 2018 y'all and still most of the Schools are not yet fully giving importance to the power of having a Librarian as part of the workforce. Aside from assisting Teachers during library period, listed below are the benefits of hiring more than 1 a librarian in the School:

Librarians can ...
  • Manage proper Book acquisition's Budgeting
  • Specialized Library Activities
  • Support Outreach
  • Substitute Teachers
  • Provide Advanced Library Orientation
  • Support for School Activities and Projects
  • Substitute Administrators
  • Basic Research Assistant
  • Liaising with departmental academic staff, external organisations and suppliers
  • IT support
  • Resource Speaker for Information Literacy topics
Private companies and Government organizations  prefer to hire Library and Information Science graduates  to work in back offices as document controller, information resource specialist, secretary, research assistant and even in monitoring statistical reports. Librarians can be very convenient in Office Works and  Customer Service jobs.

4 Signs That a Library Science Degree is Right for You

When you think of a librarian, do you picture someone restocking shelves and checking out books all day? If you do, you might be surprised at the variety of jobs a librarian actually does. A library science degree is a diverse area of study that incorporates many different disciplines, including information systems and technology, research methods, statistics, and management.
Throw away your preconceived notions about librarians and you will discover that a degree in library science is more interesting and exciting than you thought. Here are four ways to know if a library science degree is right for you:

You Love Research

Librarians are at the very heart of research. People come to libraries for more than just fiction. Both public and academic libraries provide vast amounts of resources in the form of reference books, databases, special collections, and archives.
A research librarian has the job of helping patrons understand how to use these resources to find the information they need in an efficient and effective manner. They teach researchers how to use electronic databases, help them obtain specialized materials on their subject, and provide access to restricted or delicate materials.

You Enjoy Working with Kids

Many librarians who specialize in library science work in elementary schools as media specialists. They teach groups of children, develop programs to promote literacy, and act as the information technology specialist for the school. These individuals are often the school’s experts on technology and online research. Part of their responsibility is to teach the children to use that technology in a safe and effective manner.
Children’s librarians who work at public libraries oversee the large number of programs offered to children and young adults. They often develop and supervise the story time program, the summer reading program, and other programs to promote literacy and learning. Their object is for children to become lifelong learners.

You are Technologically Savvy

As the digital age advances, more and more library systems are online. Libraries need systems librarians who can develop and troubleshoot these electronic systems, including the electronic card catalogues and other databases. Many libraries, especially academic or university libraries, utilize vast electronic third party databases that contain academic articles and research papers. Electronic resource librarians manage these databases and make sure they are functional, user friendly, and accessible to patrons.

You Always See Opportunities for Community Improvement

One of the main functions of the public library is to provide educational enrichment to all members of the community. Outreach librarians are responsible for developing programs that will benefit those members of the community who are often underrepresented. This can include the disabled, residents of low income neighborhoods, home bound citizens, seniors, those who are incarcerated, ex-offenders, rural residents, and the homeless. The Book Mobile is an example of one such program.
Library science is a field that must constantly evolve to keep up with the demands of the ever-changing nature of information and technology. As a degree that incorporates an exciting variety of disciplines and job descriptions, library science just might be the right degree for you.

Ask Your Friends: Do You Know What an OPAC is? 8 out of 10 Filipinos Wouldn't Mind!

Do you know that approximately 8 out of 10 Filipinos
DO NOT KNOW  what an OPAC is?
Try to ask your friends!

OPAC stands for Online Public Access Catalog.

First of all, let us learn what a catalog is. Catalog in the Library is a list of information about the collections that a library owns. Catalog in marketing and business terms is a complete list of items typically in systematic order. Catalogs are very helpful in many kinds of organizations mainly because it serves as a directory of information listed in systematic manner. OPAC is on the other hand, an online bibliography of collections. It's an effective bibliographic tool since it contains qualitative and quantitative data.

So why is it a big factor for us to know what an OPAC is?

OPAC is like SOUP.

OPAC is Simple.
OPAC is Useful.
OPAC is Online
OPAC is Public.

Schools, Private Institutions, Government Agencies spend millions for an OPAC database?

Tho some of them can be accessible on the web or in the internet open for public.
