Abstract

Many of us have a full first life and would find it difficult to take on a second . . . the how, why, where, when and what we teach has been significantly influenced by technological innovation. Library 2.0, web 2.0, social networks, virtual reference desk, 24/7, hybrid, blended librarianship, etc. have transformed how information is introduced and how library customers interact with that information.

This paper describes the challenges and opportunities of libraries and librarians in the second decade of the 21st century. "Do our customers want and need libraries in the virtual world?" The answer is a booming YES."
