Routines and daily task usually changes over time for some reasons like moving to another section or service area.
In academic libraries or libraries in Universities and Colleges, Approximately,  there are 5 sections that are very vital to the service.

Circulation Section - The Librarian manages the borrowed and returned/unreturned materials. Also prepares the client's book identification card, fines and obligations.

Technical Section - The Librarian prepares the materials to be borrowed. From acquisition, delivery and encoding/ownership

Multimedia Section - The Librarian supervises the use of computers, audio-visual materials, digital-electronic resources , multimedia rooms and discussion rooms

Periodicals/Serials Section - The Librarian handles the everyday printed collections like newspapers, magazines, journals, also the E-journals and the like.

Reference Section - The Librarian responds to ready-reference questions, referrals, phone-calls, library outside visitors and prepare library users statistics.

It may also change depending on library priorities, deadlines and change in work schedule.

Librarians are different kinds.
Librarians are hired depending on knowledge and skills expertise.
Librarians can work from different kind of organization from being a Schools Employee to a Company Staff to a Government Employee.

It's very important that Librarians must know how to handle work alone with minimum supervision. The fact that they are Information Resource Specialist they must be ready to deliver the right service , on the right time and on the right place.

Ssshhhh!!!!! My Mom is a Librarian : 5 Things Only Kids Whose Parent is a Librarian will Understand

Only few people know that my mom is a Librarian by profession and I think most of my friends knew she's a plain house wife that serves them snacks at our house.

Growing up, my mom never left for work and do the house chores most of the time.

Seldom have we had conversations regarding her education or work before they get married.

My mom is a Librarian,
She graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Education major in Library Science.
She was a Scholar.
She lives in a very big Family.
Her parents went abroad.
She never took the Board Exam.
She worked in a University, also in Special Libraries.
She met my father and has 5 kids and works at home 24/7 with no rest days.

I think these experiences made her what she is right now and only few people can relate how living with a Librarian mom looks like.

So I listed down interesting things which a librarian mother or kids with parents working in a library can relate.

5 Things Only Kids Whose Parent is a Librarian will understand:

1. The way they Discipline their Children.

Many people misinterpret how Librarians discipline their clients in the Libraries. Maybe because for some reasons that...

They shout more often.
They give notices and penalties.
They reprimand.
They smile at people as if they knew each other, which may looks creepy at some point.
Their eyebrows meet when someone caught their attention.

At home, they do the same thing. They are the same person.
They shout and punish you when you do something wrong.
They give you less allowance if they are short and give you a lot when they feel rich...
They explain to you what went wrong.
They are also friendly to the neighbors.'

And by the time their eyebrows meet, you must know how to behave and should never-ever answers back. All of these are true but they are not bad as you think.

In fact, they are the most rewarding kind of people I knew.

2. They give Importance to Budgeting.

I think the secret is that my mom goes to the market almost every day. She gets the budget from the apartment's rent and also from Dad's salary. She hates it when everything doesn't goes well to the budget.

I remember she used to tell me that when I become a Librarian, budgeting is one of most vital parts of work. One must be knowledgeable and have enough experience in the field.

3. They are the Best Cook.

My mom cooks 2-3 meals a day.
She had her practice when she was still young, from the help of cookbooks she read in the library and food magazines as well.

4. They know how to Plan Ahead.

All mothers are not perfect, they have imperfections as well.

And that’s why my mom loves to plan ahead. I was thinking maybe she planned making me a librarian after all or else I will never have the chance to work abroad and earn for myself.

5. They will be your number 1 Support.

I've been to so many jobs within 3 years, from BPO industries and from different types of Libraries. But my mom never left my side, she supported me in every decisions I make. I know she believes in me more than myself.

I remember the day when I asked mom, what if I failed to pass the Licensure Examination. I think it would be really hard for me to accept it and because I really tried my best and it will be the best gift for my Birthday. I was really worried and stressed that time waiting if I will pass or not. Mom knows I will pass. She even told me than It would be harder for her if I failed.

I took the exam first time and passed.  She asked me to enroll for a Master’s Degree and helps me paying the tuition.

Everything I owe to her.
I will never be thankful enough.
and I thank God I have a Librarian Mom.

Why Female Librarians Must Read this!!! Apply, Acquire, Activate

When I was still studying, I never really got interested to the fact that librarians are one of nicest people in School.

google images)
They appear boring, sometimes terrible and irritating to me.

Actually, they look very unpleasant to my eyes.

"I thought of them as loud vendors and  cashiers in the Supermarket".

One day, I attended a seminar involving professionals in the field. I met someone who's almost twice my age , around 50's maybe? Then, we began to talk about careers and differences around the workplace.

and..

I

began
to
like
her.

I'm so amazed!!!

In fact, I'm so ashamed that I never had the chance to even share a good story with her. It's like I'm trap with all of her stories in life. My ears do really wanted to listen with everything that she says.

She's very clever and I'm very lucky that I met her that day.

I really got inspired how she turned out to be the Head Librarian of a University. I'm so shocked, Unbelievable!

I really felt sorry for myself judging the people around me and my mom chosen profession.

The fact that her humble beginnings and real-life stories were making me jealous more than anything else and also  It's the way she present herself to the Public!!!

She's very charming and her taste in fashion rocks!!!!

Her looks even without saying anything,  speaks a lot of her.

This woman in-front of me is indeed Superb!

Actually, I listed things about her which I can change and teach myself  too. Well, I will not be easily be smart just like her or well-experienced but I'm here to learn. Bring it on!

1. The Power of Red lipstick.

Red draws attentions and stands out.

The color red, for centuries, has been laced with sexual connotations. In reality, the color red actually symbolizes Love, Boldness, even Loyalty.

"A good red lipstick is always floating around in my coat pocket because you never know when you might need it to save the day, especially in the work place. "

2. Wear 2-3 inches Heels.

A medium heel (1.5 to 3 inches): "These are the shoes you should only wear for show, at weddings, for a dinner date, and so on," says Armstrong. You're probably okay for up to three hours in these heels, but don't push it beyond that

3. Avoid wearing sleeveless or showing-off too much skin.

As a woman, dressing for the office can be a tricky task. It’s often a delicate balance between dressing in a way that is chic yet professional, well-fitted and flattering yet conservative, and feminine while being all business. While work is certainly not meant to be a fashion show, a well-tailored and professional outfit can help you feel capable and command respect.

Avoid low-cut and sleeveless tops. Again, every office has a different dress code, but this is a great rule of thumb. Make sure that your chest is fully covered when you head off to work. Not only is cleavage inappropriate in the office, but it’s also inconvenient to be holding your shirt up every time you reach for a paper or open a drawer! When it comes to tops, opt for ones with sleeves. To avoid looking inappropriate at your office, modest tops are your best bet.
  • Don’t confuse “modest” for “frumpy.” There is no shortage of trendy, fun tops that still keep you covered and appropriate for work.
  • If you want to be taken seriously, let your work performance do the talking. If people are distracted by your voluptuous cleavage, they probably won’t notice the great work you’re doing.
  • If you have a closet full of sleeveless tops that you want to wear, throw a cardigan or blazer on over top. These can easily take a top from backyard barbeque to board meeting.

4. Shine your Hair.

A woman’s hair is the first most noticeable part of her beauty. It enhances her personality. It’s an important part of your appearance and sets the tone for your entire look. A bad hair day is just a bad day.

5. See a Dentist.

Oral hygiene is important throughout the day, not just in the mornings and evenings. That means paying attention to your teeth and gums even while you’re at work. It may not seem that easy to keep up with your oral care at the office, especially when you’re busy with multiple tasks, or working long hours. But there are many ways to make oral care more convenient while you’re on the job. Look after your teeth with these seven workplace tips.

Must Read : Ssshhh!!!! 5 Characteristic of Having a Librarian Partner #TheIdealPartner

1. Librarians are Honest
If you want to stay long in a relationship, Honesty is the best thing that you can give to your partner.

I believe in the virtue of telling the truth thus it makes the relationship even stronger.

Librarians are also known as reliable Information Resource Specialist.

Most librarians that focus on a specific subject area manages to take courses and studies regarding the field.

Librarians treat information as very vital component of different studies. There's is no space for unreliable and biased Information.

2. Librarians are Risk Taker

The importance of taking risk revolves around in this kind of Profession.  Librarians survive when they grab opportunities that they don't expect.
Risk Lovers invest for earning higher returns. It may sound unconditional but you can never go wrong once you took the bait.

3. Librarians are Hospitable
Libraries provide the best customer service to its clients.
No wonder that Librarians are very accommodating and remarkable when it comes to customer satisfaction surveys.

4. Librarians are Talented

I believe that one of best qualifications of hiring a Library and Information Science graduate is the ability to be productive even with minimum supervision.

Librarians are trained to host an event especially conducting library orientations for teachers and students. They must have the ability to do things alone. Creativity is the Key!!!

5. Lastly, Librarians are Hard to Find

Did you know that there are average of less than 10,000 Registered Librarians in the Philippines since 1992.

Tho some of them may have left the Universe already or reached the retirement period but many are still inspired to be one.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science offers many job opportunities and at the top of that , they also bring good relationship to their work spaces.

end.

Just to give you the Idea :
