You are invited to a webcast brought to you by the National Book Development Board
Save the Date: August 7 & August 14, 2021 (Saturday 4:00 PM)
For the month of August, together with Ice Seguerra, we are reading Allan N. Derain’s novel “Aswanglaut,” an ingenious take on the genesis of the aswang.
Allan N. Derain's novel “Aswanglaut" (Ateneo de Manila University, 2021), a young girl named Luklak transforms into a buwayang aswang, a mythological creature that originates from Visayan folklore.
It intrigues readers into discovering why she is already called an aswang before her transformation started. This work calls attention to our rich Philippine mythology that's still deeply rooted in our cultural identity even in these modern times. Get your copy at Ateneo Press’s website and make sure to read parts 1 to 4 on or before August 7, and parts 5 and 6 on or before August 14.
Certificates will be given to those who will participate and answer the feedback form flashed on the webcast and the book club.
